Individual & Couple Psychotherapy

Dr. Lachkar's area of expertise is in marital therapy as well as in the treatment of individuals, couples, and families.

As a supervisor, teacher, and author she has refined her technique to a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic and other contemporary approaches to help individuals and couples deal within their conflictual interpersonal relationships.

Couple therapy is an experience that occurs among three persons e as it provides a more in-depth approach to working through the couple conflicts and disagreements. It takes into account such matters as family conflict, childhood trauma, and attachment disorders.   I coined the term” couple transference”  to show how the couple in time projects onto the therapist similar issues as among themselves. It is a deep  emotional experience of intense communication and feelings that therapy entails begins with acknowledging the profound challenges of a primitive relationship and matures into the awareness of healthy dependency needs and mutual respect. The couple presents its own dramatic narrative, and with each session the curtain opens on the opportunity to effectuate a new experience. Couple therapy can be short or long term depending on the needs of couples as they gradually unfold.

Dr. Lachkar offers ongoing supervision group for mental health professionals as well online and "live" coaching for the general community.
